MoSS Graphic Designer

Overview:

We are seeking graphic artists to help with ongoing graphic art needs. If you have experience in either creating digital images (vector preferred) or print layouts, we would be delighted to hear from you! The role of Graphic Designer is an ongoing volunteer position that is a member of the graphics design team. Each designer typically is responsible for creating one design each month to support community engagement and create curiosity about STEM topics through eye-catching graphics. Graphics are used to advertise and educate at out exhibits or online to promote activities.

Time Commitment:

On average, we request one graphic design per month.

Reports to:

Director of Communications

Duties:

• Creates curiosity about specific STEM by designing eye-catching graphics.
• Creates images for print and online use
• Works and communicates with the design team as well as the volunteer that has requested the design.
• Produce and create digital Web and print solutions, email templates, reports, signage, banners, etc. Translate requirements into mockups
• Provide user-centered design expertise from concept to delivery
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure consistency of brand identity
• Ensure graphic solutions are optimized for integration, performance, usability and sustainability

Qualifications:

• Have a firm understanding of graphic design concepts
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver)
• Comfortable interacting virtually and with internal clients
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• An interest in exploratory science and sustainability.
