Hope House women's shelter operates a community clothing bank which seeks to provide access to clothing for women during the hours of 1:00PM and 4:00PM Monday through Friday. Volunteers will inspect clothing donations, and hang them in the appropriate areas of the clothing bank. Volunteers will also interact with women as they seek to find clothing. We ask that volunteers commit to serving the entire 3 hours on the day of their choosing.

Mission Statement

Volunteers of America of Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho is devoted to ending homelessness by uplifting people and meeting needs. Through innovative, life changing services, we provide opportunities for people to rebuild their lives and fulfill their potential.

Description

Volunteers of America helps the most vulnerable and under-served people in the Inland Northwest to achieve their full potential. Our services are locally designed to address the most pressing social issues in our community-especially the current need to eliminate homelessness in the region. We work to prevent homelessness where we can-specifically among high-risk and foster youth and families on the brink. Where we can’t prevent it, we provide decisive intervention for the chronically homeless through outreach, emergency shelter and programs that encourage medical stability among some of our community’s most often forgotten including the addicted and mentally-ill, street youth, women, disabled adults and veterans. We walk beside people as they transition out of homelessness, offering education and opportunity all along the way. Most importantly, we believe in the power of housing to transform lives. That’s why we work to get displaced individuals into their own housing as quickly as possible so that they can begin the work of rebuilding their lives and achieving long-term stability and independence. We draw on more than a century of local experience combined with the reach of a nationwide movement that is: bonded by a commitment to hope, human dignity and social justice; dedicated to actively engaging volunteers in the community; and committed to the highest quality of service.
