ORGANIZATION: Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF)

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter incoming invoices into QuickBooks
  • Manage accounting and record keeping systems in QuickBooks
  • Prepare monthly and weekly reports and assist with weekly bank deposits
  • Assist inreconciliation of business account with American Express on a monthly basis
  • Assist ingenerating, monitoring, and reviewing financial transactions ensuring accuracy and appropriateness, including check requests (payments of all vendor invoices), petty cash, and reimbursements

Responsibilities will also include some administrative tasks including

  • Filing and preparing new hire packets
  • Updating vacation log
  • Distributing payroll checks
  • Assisting in general office duties

Qualifications

  • Four year Accounting Degree
  • Detail oriented and able to meet deadlines
  • Experience working with Microsoft Excel

Time Commitment

Mission Statement

HEAF is an effective supplemental education and youth leadership nonprofit that works to help high-potential but under-served New York City public school students become high-achieving college graduates. HEAF identifies scholars in middle school and supports them until they are successfully admitted to four-year colleges through a variety of after-school, Saturday, summer, and youth development programs. In the last 15 years, 100% of our students have graduated from high school and 83% of our students have received a degree from college within six years or less.
