The American Cancer Society and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Westport CT (Fairfield County) are looking for volunteers who can help coordinate fundraisers during the Holiday season to help raise money to fight breast cancer. Volunteers will coordinate, set up, promote and execute the fundraiser with administrative support by American Cancer Society Staff. Examples of community fundraisers might include:
- a bake sale or Holiday cookie swap,
- a dress casual or Holiday spirit day in the workplace,
- Holiday gift wrapping or caroling for donations,
- a school sports team, honor society or fraternal organization coordinated fundraiser,
- fundraising event with local retailer or restaurant,
- a local theatre production fundraiser
- a bowling party fundraiser
- wine tasting fundraiser
- UGLY sweater party fundraiser
- Holiday craft sale fundraiser
- Holiday wreaths and ornaments
- Holiday dinner or gala,
- Silent auction

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is more than just the name of a walk; it describes the progress we’re making together to save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
Each year our walks are held nationwide to celebrate those who have battled breast cancer, educate about ways to reduce the risk, and empower communities to join the fight. Since 1993, nearly seven million walkers across the country have raised more than $400 million through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer - funding breakthrough breast cancer research and helping people stay well, get well, find cures, and fight back. In 2013 alone, nearly 800,000 walkers across the country collected $60 million to fight breast cancer.
Here in New England, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has been taking place since 1993, and we have raised more than $46 million dollars. Each year more and more people come out to support the efforts of the American Cancer Society and join our cause. In 2013, over 3,000 supporters walked the 5K route and helped raise over $130,000 in New Haven County.
Our event is an empowering experience that attracts participants who are committed to taking an active role in creating a cancer-free world. Our passionate supporters are an important audience for your company, and our event offers a valuable opportunity to reach them and let the community know that you too are committed to eliminating breast cancer.
