Our Mission: For 50 years, Meals On Wheels Atlanta (MOWA) has supported senior independence through meals, shelter, education and community. We deliver 130,000 nourishing meals to homebound seniors in Atlanta annually, provide home repair service, manage seven senior centers, an Adult Day Health Center focused on helping seniors and their families manage Alzheimer's and dementia, and a senior companion program. The number of seniors grows daily as does the need for our services.

Outline of Meal Preparation: At a time when one out of six Georgia seniors does not know when or where their next meal will come from, we provide a critical safety net for seniors in need. We pack seniors’ meals in different nutrition for various needs. We also operate five programs to support seniors; the one you will be volunteering at is Meal Packing in our community kitchen. When designing our menus, we consult with a certified nutritionist, which enables us to offer meals that meet most dietary restrictions. Last year we delivered more than 130,000 meals to individual seniors. Right now our waiting list has over 350 seniors waiting for Meals On Wheels Atlanta.

Outline of our Volunteer with Seniors Meal Preparation: Volunteers can assist with packing/plating meals in our full-service kitchen. The group should arrive at 9 am and stay until 12 pm. All that is needed is willingness to give a hand and passion for help. MOWA will provide all supplies such as hair nets, gloves and aprons. This activity is great for ages 13 or older accompanied by a parent/guardian or ages 17 and above with parental permission.
