Our Mission: For 50 years, Meals On Wheels Atlanta (MOWA) has supported senior independence through meals, shelter, education and community. We deliver 130,000 nourishing meals to homebound seniors in Atlanta annually, provide home repair service, manage seven senior centers, an Adult Day Health Center focused on helping seniors and their families manage Alzheimer's and dementia, and a senior companion program. The number of seniors grows daily as does the need for our services.
Outline of Alternative College Break: During College Break, it is a great opportunity to attend five of our main programs to learn more about our organization. Everyone is welcome to join us during their college break.
Outline of Our Volunteers with Alternative Spring Break: Volunteers will be provide more information about our program during each noon break and also are required to attend five of our main programs which are meal services (meal packing and delivery), home repair (help seniors with their issued house), senior center (entertain seniors with different activities), adult day care (care and assistance to those with Alzheimer’s or Dementia along with their caregivers) and senior companions (helping adults remain independent in their homes and assist them while they are attending senior centers and adult day programs).
This is a great opportunity to learn more about MOWA with our short speech during each day noon time during spring break. Volunteers can join one of our programs: Meal packing, which helps kitchen prepare meals; Meals delivery, deliver meals to seniors on different routes; Home repair, helping seniors with their houses; Senior center, helping seniors participating in Zumba, arts and crafts, dances, plays and senior events; Adult Day Health, helping care and assist those with Alzheimer’s or Dementia along with their caregivers; and lastly, Senior companions, which is helping adults remain independent in their homes and assist them while they are attending senior centers and adult day programs.More opportunities with Meals On Wheels Atlanta
