ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
The essential function of this position is to provide safe rides for Just Friends clients.
The Just Friends volunteer driver interacts with staff, volunteers, and clients with strict confidentiality, professionalism, and respect.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Uphold the mission and values of Hastings Family Service
- Drive clients to and from their requested appointments on time.
- Treat all clients, volunteers, and staff with respect and kindness.
- Maintain client confidentiality.
- Contact client at least 24 hours in advance of their ride to arrange a pick-up time.
- Ensure a safe drive by obeying all driving and traffic laws, making sure both the driver and client are properly wearing a seatbelt, and not using a cell phone while driving.
- Providing a smoke free vehicle for clients during the time of the drive.
- Assist clients getting from their residence, in and out of vehicle, and into their appointment facility as needed.
- Accept no direct payment of gifts from clients.
- Record all mileage turn it into Just Friends Coordinator by the 5 th of the month.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Must have a valid MN driver’s license, current registration, and current auto insurance.
- Must complete a criminal background check.

Hastings Family Service is a community based nonprofit agency providing a range of emergency and supportive services for over forty years to assist and guide neighbors from the Hastings area who lack food, clothing, shelter, support or transportation.
HFS provides help and hope in a spirit of caring and respect, knowing that unforeseen circumstances like job elimination, reduction in work hours or medical emergencies can happen to any of us at any time. The current economy has created numerous vulnerabilities, and HFS strives to assist those in need while providing fulfilling opportunities for volunteers and community member to support those efforts.
