Are you looking for an easy and fun way to help your community? Care to Shop is the longest running program of the Chicken Soup Brigade food program of Lifelong AIDS Alliance. We prepare and distribute meals and grocery bags for clients living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses in King and Pierce Counties.

Care to Shop is essential in collecting non-perishable and staple items for our clients' grocery bags. Our funding sources can then be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, which are crucial for a healthy diet.

This is a great way to spread awareness to the community, gather food donations, and spend time meeting others! Volunteers greet shoppers at local grocery stores and ask them if they would 'care to shop' for Chicken Soup Brigade. Wish lists are handed to shoppers to remind them which items are most needed. Shoppers then drop off food items, cash, or gift cards when leaving the store.

Volunteers are absolutely necessary in engaging shoppers, answering questions, and thanking those who donate!

-All ages are welcome.
-Great opportunity for community or corporate groups to engage in team-building or even 'adopt a store'
-Perfect for families
-This can be considered a student service-learning opportunity.

Mission Statement

We remove barriers to health with relentless compassion so that no one faces illness and injustice alone.

Description

LIFELONG HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN ORGANIZATION THAT STANDS UP FOR COMMUNITIES FACING ILLNESS AND INJUSTICE.

Everyone deserves the chance to live their healthiest life, but that vision is out of reach for far too many people. For nearly 40 years, Lifelong has fought for marginalized communities with relentless compassion-because no one should have to battle stigma, judgment, or the devastating effects of illness alone. Our wraparound care model supports the whole person by breaking down barriers and improving access to nutritious food, stable housing, and vital health resources for people living with diabetes, HIV, kidney disease, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our community support network fills the gaps in broken systems and ensures that everyone has an equitable opportunity to thrive.
