SAFEchild empowers more than 6,500 first graders every year with this interactive program that teaches children skills to protect themselves from physical and sexual abuse. Funny Tummy Feelings also informs children how to make appropriate decisions in a variety of situations.

Funny Tummy Feelings includes discussions about pleasant and unpleasant Funny Tummy Feelings or emotions; the differences between "good" and "not-so-good" secrets; how to identify and select special people in each child's life that he or she can talk to and trust; when to say "no" and how to say "no" effectively.

This engaging and fun program teaches first grade children the skills necessary to protect themselves from sexual and physical abuse. Volunteers make interactive presentations using puppets, and props to teach children to differentiate from "good" secrets and secrets that should be shared. Children are taught to say "NO" assertively and to identify special people to whom they can talk about problems.

Volunteers work in teams of 2. Hours are flexible, but must be available during the school day.
