Affinity Hospice

Now more than ever the people of our communities need increased support to minimize fear and reduce isolation. Reach out to touch someone with your voice, not your hands, with a virtual hug!

Affinity Hospice offers telephonic touches (phone calls, Face-Time, or Skype visits) for our hospice patients and their caregivers in order to brighten lonely days of isolation during these times of Covid-19 safety precautions. Our non-medical volunteers supplement the clinical staff's care and enhance our patients' lives through meaningful, personalized virtual visits.

Can you share consistent, positive, supportive listening with a central Alabama resident who is home-bound, perhaps lonely, due to illness? If so, please plug in to Affinity Hospice!

Although the volunteer activities are virtual, some of the onboarding processes require new applicants to visit in person with the Volunteer Coordinator.
We provide orientation and support along this rewarding, volunteer journey.

Mission Statement

Affinity Hospice's mission is to ensure all people have the opportunity to receive compassionate end of life care, which preserves dignity and provides comfort. Our goal is to provide comprehensive coordinated care to individuals with life-limiting illnesses and to support their families during the processes of death and bereavement.

Description

Affinity Hospice serves many communities in Alabama, providing medical, emotional, physical and spiritual support by the specially trained individuals of our interdisciplinary care teams. We provide comfort and security in patient's homes, wherever the patient may live. We believe in the quality of life and are committed to helping our patients to live life as alert and pain free as possible.

Affinity Hospice provides a multifaceted support system for the patient and family. Our care includes comforting care by nurses, physicians, social workers, certified nursing assistants, clergy, and volunteers. Our physicians are available 24/7, which greatly reduces or eliminates the need for emergency room visits or hospitalizations.

Our staff and volunteers support human values. Our team of volunteers offer non-medical support to the patient and their family members, providing the something "more" which may be needed to assist patients to live their final days with dignity, comfort and support.
