Are you looking for ways to volunteer in your community?
A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer is a trained community member who is appointed by a judge to represent the best interests of a child in dependency court. CASA volunteers are adult men and women who give time each week to advocate for a child’s safety and best interest.
CASA volunteers help to change a child's life for a brighter future, help to end the cycle of abuse and neglect, have an opportunity to learn about the juvenile court system, and become actively involved in their community.
No special experience is needed; our agency provides a thorough training and supervisors who provide guidance and support to our advocates. Applicants must have only the desire and commitment to change a child’s life.
BECOMING A VOLUNTEER ADVOCATE MEANS YOU ARE:
- Willing to commit at least 3-4 hours of your time per week
- Committed to making a difference in the life of a foster child/youth
- Available to successfully complete our 30 hours of training
- Willing to complete necessary background checks
- Over the age of 21
READY TO SPEAK UP FOR A CHILD WHO NEEDS YOU?
The first step is to attend our Volunteer Orientation which will include a thorough overview of the role and requirements of becoming a CASA.
We are hosting a volunteer orientation session during the evening of Tuesday, September 13th at 6:15 pm in San Jose.
If you cannot attend the scheduled session listed above, please call (408)573-5607 or email caroline@cadvocates.org to reschedule.

Mission Statement
To be there for every foster child in Silicon Valley who has experienced abuse, neglect and/or abandonment.
Description
We serve children aged birth to 21 years old who are placed in the Santa Clara County Dependency Court System (commonly referred to as foster care) for having experienced trauma in the form of abuse, neglect and/or abandonment. As an affiliate of the National Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association, we are responsible for operating the CASA program in Santa Clara County according to the national guidelines, which entails recruiting, training and supporting CASA Volunteers.
CASA Volunteers are appointed by a judge to be a mentor, advocate and a voice for a child in foster care. It can be a tough and demanding working with children in foster care but it is also very impactful. CASA Volunteers have the ability to help a child in foster care overcome the effects of having experienced trauma.
Change the life trajectory of a foster child. Sign up for an info session on our website to learn more.
