VOLUNTEER ON THE 3RD ANNUAL GREEN REDMOND DAY!

Come plant trees with us in three Redmond parks to help keep the forest healthy and green. Everyone can help! All ages welcome, and all tools, plants, and gloves will be supplied, as well as coffee and snacks. This is our biggest event of the year and our chance to celebrate our favorite forested parks and all of the hard work that has gone into restoration projects throughout the year. Please RSVP.

When: Saturday, October 31, 9am

What to bring: Dress for the weather and wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes that can get dirty. Bring a reusable water bottle and a coffee mug if you have them - we’ll fill them!

Where: Farrel-McWhirter Park, Meadow Park, and Westside Park.

Please RSVP at GREENREDMOND.ORG (the earlier the better!) so that we can plan a great event for you.

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
