Medical Intake Coordinator for Health Screenings

Job Description

Objective: To help with intake of patients for our nurse who performs health screenings, foot care and bloodwork draws. This is sponsored by the Wellness Center for Older Adults (WCOA) and takes place at the Frisco Senior Rec Center on the 2nd Thursday of every month from 8:30am - 12pm.

Requirements:

1. Complete application, criminal background check, interview, and training

The following offenses disqualify a volunteer applicant:

1. Any felony charge
2. Crimes of family
3. Crimes of violence
4. Breach of peace (within the last five years)
5. Crimes of fraud
6. Drug possession (within the last five years)
7. Maintain regular contact with WCOA Volunteer Coordinator
8. Maintain and submit records monthly or as requested
9. Present and maintain valid drivers license and automobile insurance
10. Ensure a program experience which supports the Policies and Rules of Conduct and standards of the WCOA.

Tasks:

1. Act as point of contact for the nurse
2. Check in patients and make copies of ID
3. Patient appointments run every 10-15 minutes
4. Typical time involved is 5 hours.
5. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

1. Positive attitude in working with seniors in a supportive/recreational setting

2. Understanding of and appreciation for the uniqueness of seniors

3. Willingness to be dependable and fulfill designated time commitment (2 - 4 hours/week)

4. Ability to organize and carry out program activities in a designated time frame

Supervision: Interaction will be supervised by the Volunteer Coordinator, employees of the WCOA, and the Executive Director.
