Are you an advocate for art and creativity?!? People Incorporated’s Artability program is an annual celebration of the creativity and contributions of people with mental illnesses to our community. This year’s show will be held on Friday and Saturday, October 23-24, at the Great Hall in St Paul. We are currently looking for volunteers to support this event in a variety of ways! Sign up today to be part of this great event! Perks include giving back to the community, seeing beautiful art, and enjoying great food and music course!


October 19, 20, 21 Set up crews (6 volunteers needed)

October 22 Pre-Event Support (14 volunteers needed)

October 23, 24 Event Support (30 volunteers needed)

October 25 & 26 Tear down crews (10 volunteers needed)

Times will vary; hours are between 9am-9pm (typical shifts are between 3-5 hours)

Job Summaries:

Artability Greeter: greet guests, offer printed programs, instruct guests to sign guest book, provide instructions on how to purchase art, direct artists and writers to registration table, and answer questions guests may have

Artability Set-Up/Tear Down: hang artwork, set-up 3-card display system, set-up volunteer stations with marketing material, clean up waste & packing materials, take down art & bubble wrap with Art ID card, tear down volunteer stations, & pack up marketing materials

Artability Registration: check-in artists and writers, confirm with artists regarding visual and written work, give writers an anthology & a t-shirt and artists a t-shirt, give out nametags to participants, answer questions they may have

Event Support: Assist as needed in all areas of volunteering including registration, food service, greeting, and floor sales; may also assist with set-up and tear down; acts as a floater between volunteer positions

Food Service: set-up cake & punch table, stock with paper products, mix punch, cut & plate cake, serve appetizers to guests, clean up abandoned paper products left by guests, and assist in post-event clean-up

Floor Sales: oversee designated gallery zone making sure guests do not touch the art or enter the off-limits space, answer questions about purchasing art, and assist guests with following proper procedure for purchasing and picking up art

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is a Twin Cities-based nonprofit providing a spectrum of services through nearly 60 programs in the greater metro area. Supporting mental health and wellness in our community through collaboration and integration of care is our mission, and it means that we provide people with mental illness with the help they need to avoid hospitalization and institutionalization and live hopeful, meaningful lives in the community. We specialize in serving people who have both mental illness, and a secondary impediment such as: Deafness, chemical dependency, a developmental disability, homelessness, or seizure disorder. We’re known for creating innovative services tailored to the needs of each individual-and we’ve been doing it successfully for nearly 50 years.
