Literacy Advance partners with libraries, schools and other community-based organizations in the greater Houston area and is looking for volunteers to tutor English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for adults. All Volunteer Tutors will be provided with Literacy Advance tutor training, free of charge. You do NOT have to have teaching experience or speak another language.

Literacy Advance provides parents of students with ESL classes to improve their English skills for a variety of purposes, including job-seeking, supporting children and family, and fitting into their community. The majority of ESL students want to focus on their speaking and listening skills, though many also want to practice reading and writing. Some ESL students have achieved a high level of education in their home country; others have had less schooling. All share the desire to improve their lives and make the most of their new home in the United States.

These classes take place at various locations throughout Houston. Please contact us for registration dates and specific class times and durations.

NB: PLEASE be sure to check your spam account for a reply from us! We respond to every expression of interest but some messages are blocked by email filters. Thank you!
