Wildlife Garden Workday at Merrimac Farm with BYO Lunch

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Prince William Conservation Alliance

Bring a brown-bag lunch on October 10! After our garden work is done, we will gather for lunch and celebrate Native America by sharing some traditional foods (provided) and poems. We will also create a wishing tree where you can add your hopes for a more sustainable future and watch your ideas flow with the wind.

The Wildlife Garden at Merrimac Farm is an ongoing project that creates an area in the community where people and the environment can come together as one. Over the past few years, we’ve planted hundreds of trees, shrubs, and perennials, and the Wildlife Garden is looking terrific with new blooms as well as a variety of birds and butterfly species. Now we need your help with a variety of tasks such as weeding, pruning, and watering to ensure that the garden continues to provide all of its services to the environment and the community.

Come on down to the Wildlife Gardens at Merrimac Farm, and make sure to wear long pants, sturdy shoes, long socks, and a hat to keep off that sun! The Stone House Visitor Center can be found by driving to the VERY end of Deepwood lane. Directions are online here. Make sure to follow Deepwood Lane to the VERY end of the road (go left at the fork past the first entrance) and come all the way to the back. We are so excited to see what the future of this garden holds, and hope that you will come out and join us to keep our community beautiful.
