The purpose of this program is for volunteers to obtain exposure to, and mentoring in, clinical research methodology through direct involvement in cardiovascular research projects conducted in a multicultural urban setting. Volunteers will have access to grand rounds, seminars and conferences on a broad variety of topics in biomedicine. They will also be encouraged to attend the Principles of Research Methodology course, in which participants will learn about designing research projects, writing grant proposals, or conducting research for publication as a journal article or presentation at a medical society meeting. The program is directed by Dr. Phyllis G. Supino, Professor of Medicine, Adjunct Professor Public Health, Director of Clinical Epidemiology & Clinical Research, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY.
