Greentree Elementary needs volunteers to be mentors to a 5th or 6th grade student in the CalPrep Mentoring Program! It's an after-school program that focuses on having positive study/work habits, developing critical thinking skills, and learning a bit about college. This weekly program runs from the end of January to mid May. All volunteers will be supplied with all they need to be a successful. You'd mentor a child in one grade or the other, on one day or the other. Sessions are on:
Wednesdays from 12:40-2:10pm or Thursdays from 2:10-3:40pm

Description
Greentree Elementary School in Irvine is looking for commited and caring volunteers to become mentors through the CalPREP Program. As a mentor, you will be paired with a 5th or 6th grade Greentree student, who you will work with for 1.5 hours a week over the course of roughly 4 months (February to May). Through preplanned lessons, activities and games, your goal as a mentor will be to help and encourage these students. You'll be able to watch their growth in various aspects, and it will be an overall rewarding experience for both you as their mentor, and all of the students.
