Spark curiosity and bring learning to life by volunteering in the Field Museum’s Crown Family PlayLab . The Crown Family PlayLab is an interactive, family-friendly space designed to connect early childhood audiences (ages 2-6) to the wonders of nature, diverse cultures and scientific inquiry. PlayLab Volunteers will facilitate a rotation of age appropriate early childhood activities, while also curating a nurturing environment for children to play, explore, discover, and learn. Responsibilities include opening and closing the PlayLab space, greeting and interacting with guests, facilitating early childhood activities, maintaining play areas, and assisting with visitor needs.


Ideal applicants have a strong interest in natural science, world cultures, and various art mediums as well as early childhood education.

Available shifts are:

Mornings: 9:30am-1pm
Afternoons:12:30-4pm
Full Day: 9:30-4pm.

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • Volunteers must commit to three or more shifts per month (10.5 hours per month), with a long term commitment of 8 months to one year preferred. Applicants able to commit long term will have priority regarding placement.
