Speaking Engagement

The Highline High School Girls Apps Club is looking for speakers for every Thursday for the whole school year (ends 6/16/16). When you sign up you will be the featured and only speaker for that day.

Visit Highline High School to present on your career and story to a group of girls in high school. The event lasts 1 hour.

This panel discussion introduces girls to the various technology careers women have pursued, and hearing women speak about their careers helps girls understand how they could potentially follow in the same path and what opportunities are available to them.

We encourage women to provide visual or prototypes of their work to make it more real about what they do everyday. We provide speaker guidelines to all approved speakers.

Please contact elizabeth@ignite-worldwide.org if you are interested in being a panel speaker.

About IGNITE WORLDWIDE

Mission Statement

IGNITE™ inspires girls to become the future technology leaders and innovators of our world. We work directly with teachers to provide engaging events like field trips to local companies, panels with professional women in STEM, and hands-on workshops. We serve all girls and non-binary students, with a focus on students from undeserved communities, students of color, and those who may have not yet considered a future in STEM.

Description

Started in 1999, IGNITE (Inspiring Girls Now In Technology Evolution) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that introduces school girls from grades 6-12 to technology careers via panel discussions, job shadowing, mentoring and field trips throughout the school year to visit the work places of professional women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers.

IGNITE has educated and empowered over 60,000 young women in middle school and high school grades to pursue education and careers in STEM. In the Seattle School District alone, female participation in technology classes soared from under 5% to over 50% after implementing the IGNITE program. The IGNITE program is also donated to countries all over the world, where local educators lead the program and empower girls in their communities.
