IT'S SCHOOL TIME! Want to get into the classroom with us to inspire elementary kids to love healthy food? We will be cooking and gardening with thousands of Houston elementary children Monday-Thursday, and our instructors treasure your help delivering our award-winning Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education(tm). Make sure you have attended one of our monthly Volunteer Orientations. Work times are mornings and afternoons M-Th during the school day at various locations.

You simply need to love working with children and have an interest in cooking and/or gardening - novices welcome! On any given day, you could be in our Recipe Gardens coaxing a seedling to life, harvesting ripe produce, or cooking those fresh fruits and vegetables in one of our culinary classrooms. Our volunteers help our pro Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education(tm)Instructor guide the children, share in the experience, and spread the joy of healthy food. We look forward to seeing you in the classroom!

Make sure you have: filled out our Volunteer Interest Form , attended a Volunteer Orientation , completed all our forms and registered as an HISD VIPS.

About Recipe for Success Foundation

Location:

4400 Yupon St., Houston, TX 77006, US

Mission Statement

Recipe for Success Foundation is dedicated to combating childhood obesity by changing the way our children understand, appreciate and eat their food, and by educating and mobilizing the community to provide healthier diets for children.

Now entering our second decade, we have developed a comprehensive experiential learning program that makes healthy food fun, we promote healthy eating with books, contests and public awareness campaigns, and we work to make affordable, healthy food available to everyone. Our signature programs include national initiatives like Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education™ in schools, the VegOut! Challenge, farmers marKIDS DAYS and the Eat This! series of children's cookbooks. In Houston, we go a step further in helping parents provide healthy diets for their kids, by training US military veterans to grow fresh affordable produce for their neighbors at our 7-acre Hope Farms urban ag showcase in the Sunnyside neighborhood.

We envision a world where healthy eating is the norm and a culture where nutritious food is shared, appreciated, and celebrated.
