Please visit the new page to apply.
The Fair Housing Enforcement Program (FHEP) of the Legal Aid Society of Hawai'i (LASH) is seeking dedicated volunteer testers to assist in the investigation of housing discrimination. Testers pose as home-seekers in a variety of housing rental situations. Hours are flexible and attention to detail and reliability are required. Testers will be paid a per-test stipend, but this is NOT a part-time job. Training will be provided. You must be at least 18, without prior felony convictions and without an open case with the Legal Aid Society of Hawai'i. Those with an active real estate license are not eligible.
The law prohibits housing discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, gender identity or expression, family status, disability, marital status, age, sexual orientation and HIV infection. LASH is a public interest, nonprofit law firm dedicated to achieving fairness and justice for Hawai'i’s people through legal advocacy, outreach and education for those in need. FHEP provides investigative services, advice, advocacy, conciliation, attorney referral, and community education.
The next tester training will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Honolulu.
If you are interested in becoming a fair housing tester or have any questions, please complete our pre-screening questionnaire at http://www.fairhousinghawaii.org/attend-tester-training.html, or contact the Tester Coordinator at (808) 527-8017.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii is to address critical legal needs through high quality legal advocacy, outreach, and education in the pursuit of justice and fairness.
Description
The Legal Aid Society of Hawai`i is a public interest, non-profit law firm dedicated to achieving fairness and justice for Hawai`i's people through legal advocacy, outreach and education for those in need. Established in 1950, Legal Aid has ten offices statewide, and over 100 staff members dedicated to achieving Legal Aid’s vision of "Building a Just Society." As our vision implies, we live in a society that is unjust or, at best, not yet just, with structural inequities, economic injustice, and unequal access to the justice system. To remedy this, our focus is on critical legal services for those in need, whether by providing direct services, helping people help themselves, advocating on behalf of others, or educating people. Providing legal services is our unique contribution.
