BCM is looking for a student intern to volunteer for a designated period of time during the summer months. A regular schedule can be negotiated based upon length of stay. The intern will work closely with the Services Team for Emergency Assistance to assist with program implementation through the responsibilities listed below. The appropriate candidate will be a compassionate, responsible, problem solver who has a heart for ministering to people in need. Please note that this is an unpaid internship.
General responsibilities include work with Atlanta’s low-income residents and the homeless, INCLUDING BUT not limited to:
a) Meeting with clients to assess how BCM can best meet their needs, problem solving to find resources to empower themselves and their families, helping distribute groceries to the hungry, and securing financial assistance for those facing eviction and utility disconnection.
b) Answering the Helpline to determine callers’ eligibility and to schedule appointments.
c) Greeting clients when they arrive at the office, locating and filing client documents to ensure that appointments are seen efficiently.
d) Helping to compile updated resource material as needed to inform clients and volunteers of the latest services available.
e) Assist with food deliveries
f) Administrative Duties related to Services Department as needed (i.e. filing, data entry, etc.)

Emergency Financial Assistance provides people in crisis with one-time assistance paying rent, mortgage or utility bills.
Buckhead THRIFTique provides free and affordable clothing to the community and opportunities to volunteer.
Foundation 3 helps working, homeless parents build a solid financial future by focusing on three key areas: safe housing, stable employment and education.
The Budget for Life program stabilizes working families who are at high-risk of homelessness. This program is unique in Atlanta because it combines financial assistance, education, financial mentoring and personalized case management.
The Money Management Course teaches participants everything from decision making and goal setting to how to budget and improve their credit. During the 22 week course, students alternately attend classes and meet one-on-one with financial coaches.
