The Best Buddies Ambassadors program educates and empowers people with IDD through group trainings and workshops to be leaders and public speakers in their schools, communities, and work places. Best Buddies Ambassadors is the next step for the disability rights movement-teaching people with IDD the skills they need to successfully self-advocate.

We hold our advanced ambassador training once a year to build upon the speech and preenting skills the students learn during out novice training. During our advanced training, we focus on skills that will help students succeed when they leave school. We teach them how to network and recruit people to join Best Buddies, as well as work on resume buidling, talking to business professionals and the importance of business ettiquette.

We are looking for business professionals to volunteer as speech coaches for this training. These people will be paired with a students who has an intellectual and developmental disabiliity and help them through the training. There are several different breakouts, worksheets and activities for the ambassadors to complete, and the speech coach is there to guide them and keep them on track, as well as give them tips and pointers to help make them successful in the business world.
