Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the inaugural Brew-Ha Roundup Half Marathon, 5K & Kids Run benefiting the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas. Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success!

Volunteer opportunities are listed below with the times needed, number of volunteers needed, a summary of the job and the location. Children are welcome to volunteer if they are with a responsible adult who can ensure the child will not interfere with the runners’ progress.

Set Up Crew Saturday, Oct. 24 6 am - 8 am Tejas Rodeo

Job includes some heavy lifting, setting up tables, setting up tents, moving boxes, etc. Will need some type of head light as it will be dark when this shift begins.

Parking Crew Saturday, Oct. 24 5:30 am - 8:15 am Tejas Rodeo

Job includes directing cars into parking spaces in the dark hours of the morning - flashlights and vests provided.

"Ask Me" Roam S aturday, Oct. 24 6 am - 8:30 am Tejas Rodeo

Job includes being available to point participants to areas of need. Layout of all tents will be shared and will need to be available to help with crowd control or questions.(Please note: It is Mandatory to attend one of the Pre-Race Volunteer meetings to go over the course layout and expectations)

Number needed: 4

Course Monitors Saturday, Oct. 24 8 am - 11 pm

or

8 am - 1 p.m. Assigned spot along the course

Job includes shouting directional cues along the race course to participants; ensuring runners are safe on the road and that no runner gets off-course. A fun job, but requires a lot of standing and high energy to keep runners energized. You are welcome to bring a chair and cooler for snacks if needed. (Please note: It is Mandatory to attend one of the Pre-Race Volunteer meetings to go over the course layout and expectations)

Number needed: 20 - 15 for 8 am - 11 am shift; 5 for the 8 am - 1 pm shift

Aid Station Captain Saturday, Oct. 24 8 am - 1 pm Assigned spot along the course

Job includes recruiting a team of 10-15 people to staff, assemble and provide beverage and nutrition to race participants along the race course (supplies will be provided). This is a great job for a group or business who may want to market themselves or fulfill volunteer hours as a group. Rowdy, but responsible groups appreciated. Tents would be helpful to provide shade to your group. Freedom is granted to brand an aid station, decorate within reason and provide music or anything to give runners a boost along the course.(Please note: It is Mandatory to attend one of the Pre-Race Volunteer meetings to go over the course layout and expectations)

Number needed:5 Captains who can each recruit a team of 10-15 (Must have an Adult team lead for this position)

Food Crew Saturday, Oct. 24 7:30 am - 12 pm Tejas Rodeo

Job requires staging the snacks for the race participants. Also ongoing monitoring to ensure participant receives one serving, restocking items once they are out, and tearing down boxes and taking trash to dumpsters. Other duties include, setting up coolers, passing out sodas and replenishing as needed.

Finish Line Crew S aturday, Oct. 24 7:30 am - 10:30 am Tejas Rodeo

Jobs include organizing finisher medals,helping organize Kids Run, handing out capes to each Kids Run finisher, handing out water as participants finish and handing out the finisher medals to finishers of the Half Marathon.

Finish Line Crew Saturday, Oct. 24 10:30 am - 1 pm Tejas Rodeo

Jobs include handing out water as participants finish and handing out the finisher medals to finishers of the Half Marathon.

Crew Hand Saturday, Oct. 24 8:15 - 11:15 am Tejas Rodeo

Jobs include staying on top of trash needs - emptying full trash bags, replenishing with new trash bags and taking full trash bags to dumpsters. Monitoring portolets for toilet paper needs - replenishing with toilet paper as needed. Monitoring hand washing stations to ensure there is water and paper towels, replenishing water and paper towels as needed and picking up trash around handwashing station.

Jobs include staying on top of trash needs - emptying full trash bags, replenishing with new trash bags and taking full trash bags to dumpsters. Timing Assistants Saturday, Oct. 24 8:45 am - 11:15 am Tejas Rodeo

Jobs include receiving runners’ times from the timing officials and posting them for runners to view. Also will require acting as a "help desk" - acting as a liaison between timing officials and the participants who perceive a problem with their time.

Award Assistants Saturday, Oct. 24 8:30 am - 11:45 am Tejas Rodeo

Job requires being responsible for the setting out of and guarding awards prior to award presentations at 9:45 am and 11:15 am. Help in handing out of awards and then packing up any unclaimed awards and delivering them back to the race director.

Medical Crew Saturday, Oct. 24 8 am - 1 pm Finish area and on course

Job requires a nursing or medical background. Being on hand to assist with minor injuries in a medical tent and help to coordinate with EMS personnel.

Number needed: 10

Clean Up Crew Saturday, Oct. 24 12 pm - 2 pm Tejas Rodeo

Job includes helping replenish trash bags, pick up trash, help with table and tent breakdown and loading of equipment. May require some heavy lifting.
