What is the VITA program?
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to individuals who generally earn up to $50,000. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.
How much time is involved in volunteering and where will I work?
Volunteers work 4 hours per week throughout the tax filing season. CCA's site (128 S. Mill Street Lewisville, TX) will be open every Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm for tax preparations.
What if I have questions when preparing returns?
Each tax prep location is supervised by three experienced IRS certified Site Coordinators who will provide you with support, answer any questions as they arise, and review all your tax returns prior to transmitting them.
What are the benefits to becoming a VITA volunteer?
No experience is needed. The IRS will provide free tax law training and materials needed to prepare individual tax returns.
Volunteers become familiar with deductions, allowable expenses and credits that benefits eligible tax filers, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit.
Volunteer hours are flexible.
The VITA experience is a great resume builder.
VITA volunteers become part of an established program that has helped Denton County community residents receive more than $5 million over the past 7 years.
How do I sign up?
Orientation will be held on Tuesday, October 6th at CCA (200 S. Mill Street) from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. Click here to sign up for the orientation class or contact Charlene.Bell@ccahelps.org or Renee.McLaurin@ccahelps.org.

Description
CCA was started in 1973 by seven young adults in a Bible study group committed to volunteer efforts in order to create a stronger community. Today, we continue to rely on volunteers to help us do our daily work and are blessed by the generosity of all of our many volunteers. From answering phones and assisting with mailings, to working the checkout in CCA's Food Pantry, to serving as a doctor or nurse in our health center, CCA is a wonderful place for individuals, businesses and organizations to give generously of their time, talents and compassion.
