TrySci Community Biolabs

Are you an experienced website professional wanting to offer your skills and expertise to the nonprofit sector? We are looking for someone like you to help redesign and manage our home page. (www.trysci.org)

At TrySci Community Biolabs we advocate learning science by doing science (hands on science research performed by the general public). We are a very new nonprofit and we're currently negotiating lab space, acquiring equipment, writing grants, reaching out for volunteers, etc and we hope to open our doors to the general public for education and laboratory research (hands on style) soon. It should be noted that we believe in open access to science for all and thus provide our services completely FREE.

Our goals are to:

1) Provide open access to citizens to learn science by doing science

2) Promote scientific literacy thus empowering the citizen to make more informed decisions regarding science and policy

3) Provide a safe and mentoring environment to women and under-represented minorities to help advance the field through the strengthening of diversity in thought and analysis.

One of our biggest challenges to date is to create a website (homepage and social media sites, like Facebook, etc) that effectively communicate our mission and goals and in today's world, having a website that is both interactive and visually stunning is essential to success. As a new nonprofit we rely heavily on community support/involvement and would benefit from volunteers, either as virtual internship or as part of a class project.

We are seeking an individual to volunteer their time and skills to:

enhance our current website, perform design changes, ensure that our website and community facebook page best describes our goals and mission, ensure that our website has the attractiveness for potential students, parents, donors, and the community support of local civic organizations, schools, and community leaders, provide and create e-commerce strategies for our community biolab through our website

If this is you contact us...
