Mission Statement

The mission of Beulah Payne Elementary School, Inglewood Unified School District's first California Distinguished School and a multicultural community of learners and educators, is to provide a rigorous academic program using effective teaching strategies and standards-based curriculum supported by technology in which all students achieve grade-level academic mastery and develop appropriate social skills in Payne School's safe, clean and positive learning environment.

Description

Beulah Payne Elementary is located in what is known as Inglewood's central corridor. Payne School services a low to low-middle income, largely Hispanic American urban population. Homes in the area are generally single family dwellings, and they are often occupied by extended families. Extended families living in the same house or close by are common. Parents and relatives are very visible before and after school, and at student performances and special student activities. In the last few years, there has been a significant increase in the number of parents who participate in our parent organizations such as School Site Council, English Learners Advisory Council, and PTA. Payne School has experienced an enormous growth in school population over the past 20 years. The school was originally built in 1935 for a student population of approximately 250. Payne 770 students from transitional kindergarten, kindergarten to 6th grade students.
Payne operates on a traditional school year calendar. Payne is a Title ! school.
