The Salvation Army in Red Bank is seeking volunteers who can help with their Thanksgiving and Christmas intake. Volunteers are needed to assist with interviewing clients registering for seasonal assistance programs. Guidelines and orientation will be provided.

Volunteers are needed the following dates:

  • October 13, 15, 19 and 20 - 9.30am-11.30am and 1pm-3pm
  • October 9 and 16 from 1pm-7pm

Volunteers must be able to speak, read and write (legibly) english, spanish or both. Volunteers must feel comfortable carrying a conversation with the client and ask questions about the clients' particulars, such as household size, whether or not there are children to be registered and even inquire about additional needs that may be more long term. Volunteer should be able to review required documentation and interpret the need. A knowledge of current popular toys and a round-a-bout cost idea is helpful but not necessary. Volunteers should be courteous, welcoming and have a friendly demeanor with excellent listening skills.

Description

The Salvation Army New Jersey Division has been assisting New Jersey residents since 1880. Services and programs include food for the hungry, companionship to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter for the homeless, food pantry/feeding programs, opportunities for underprivileged children, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled and many more services for those in need.

The Salvation Army New Jersey Division currently has 28 Corps Worship & Community Centers throughout the State, 65 Service Units, adult rehabilitation centers, a residential camp and an active Emergency Disaster Services program.
