We've got a great way to give back to the community. And, I've got one! You are part of the solution to world hunger. World Food Day is coming up on Friday, October 16th . Let World Food Day inspire you to make a difference in our world. Attend our group's meal packaging event on Monday, October 12th at 6pm with Stop Hunger Now. Thousands have already joined the movement to end hunger.

School feeding programs and emergency food aid provide important nutrients and energy for the world’s most vulnerable people and people in crisis. Many organizations across Canada and the United States bring volunteers together at schools, houses of worship, community centers and even stadiums to package food aid for those in dire need both at home and abroad.

Stop Hunger Now

Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief agency, with its headquarters in Raleigh, driven by the vision of a world without hunger. Their mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources.

Our meal-packaging event will take place either at the Stop Hunger Now warehouse. During the event, volunteers work in teams at each packaging station.

Volunteers set up and take down packaging stations and equipment, fill bins with raw ingredients, scoop ingredients into meal bags, weigh and seal the bags, box and stack them on pallets, and load the pallets and equipment onto a truck.

This webpage provides all necessary information to those interested in participating. Donors have the ability to make a secure contribution online through the "Make a Donation" button. Obviously, they still accept traditional forms of payment (checks made out to Stop Hunger Now). However, for the donor, the contribution is instantaneous and they will receive an immediate email that can serve as a receipt for tax purposes. The money gets credited immediately to the event and the webpage is updated, keeping everyone apprised of how close we are to your fundraising goal. It costs only $0.29 cents for each meal you package. Do what works for you. $20 is 69 meals, $25 is 86 meals, etc.

If you're absolutely not able to make a donation, then please sign up and come help us by packaging meals still!

The second function is very important to Stop Hunger Now. Registration is MANDATORY for all adult participants, as they are now requiring that volunteers acknowledge our waiver language before participating. Minors can be registered as "Additional Guests". While they’ll continue to bring paper sign-up sheets to the event, the easiest way for them to register people is online, which saves a significant amount of time at and following the event. About the Food

Their assembly process combines rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix that includes 23 essential vitamins and minerals into small meal packages. The meal are shipped throughout the world to support school feeding programs, orphanages, and crisis relief. The food is stored easily, transported quickly, and has a shelf-life of two years.

SHN distributes meals through feeding programs operated by partner organizations in developing countries that promote education, encourage children to attend school, improve students’ health and nutrition, address gender inequalities, stimulate economic growth, fight child labor, and are part of the movement to address global issues.
