ORGANIZATION: Rabbit Rescue, Inc.

Rabbit Rescue

We are looking for someone special who loves rabbits in the San Bruno area. Rabbit Rescue partners with PetCo stores to house and care for rabbits in convenient, highly visible urban locations while they wait to meet the family who will adopt and love them for the rest of their lives. As the coordinator for the Rabbit Rescue program in the San Bruno Tanforan Mall PetCo, you will work with the PetCo store staff to keep the rabbit in the store safe, healthy and happy. With the support of San Francisco volunteers and coordinators, you will build and train a local San Bruno volunteer force who will visit your store rabbit regularly, socialize it and monitor its well being. You will assist with the adoption process and any returns that need to occur. Because this is a special position, we are looking for someone with specific qualifications. A good candidate for this position:

  • has experience with keeping a rabbit as an indoor pet
  • can devote 3-5 hours/week to getting the process up and running (a little less longer term). This can be evenings/weekends.
  • is willing to work within the established paradigm that Rabbit Rescue has developed to successfully manage rabbit adoptions in partnership with PetCo stores
  • Must be high school graduate
  • must have access to internet and easy access to San Bruno PetCo

Mission Statement

To rescue homeless and neglected rabbits and find them loving homes.

Description

Rabbit Rescue, Inc. was established in 1995 in Downey, California. We are a non-profit/501c(3), no-kill shelter staffed and run entirely by volunteers. We rely on public donations and monies made by our on-line store rabbitshop.com to stay operational. 100% of ALL monies earned go directly to our bunnies, to pay for hay, pellets, fresh greens, housing, spay/neuter, medical treatment, drugs & medical supplies, toys and other environmental enrichments. Most of our rabbits come from local shelters where they're slated for euthanasia. All of our rabbits come from unfortunate circumstances ranging from simple neglect or abandonment to outright abuse. Many require both emotional and physical rehabilitation, and we keep our number of rabbits low to ensure each of them the optimum in medical care and individual attention. The end result is a happy, healthy bunny...litterbox trained, socialized, and ready to be a loved and loving member of your family. Rabbit Rescue, Inc. has rescued over 300 rabbits in the past 7 years. If you would like to assist us in our efforts to save rabbit lives, we welcome volunteers and/or tax-deductible donations.
