Do you enjoy working with children? Do you want to be a positive influence in the lives of children? Become a youth program volunteer at Arboleda, an affordable housing location in Walnut Creek! The volunteer will aid the Activities Coordinator of Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA) in doing homework help with children, helping kids with arts and crafts, and playing games and doing other fun activities with them. The program takes place each Thursday between 5:30 and 6:30 PM. The volunteer should be flexible and committed to arriving on time and coming to the program regularly, and patience is a must. Prior experience in teaching or working with children is recommended, but is not required. If the volunteer is 18 years of age or older, a background check is required prior to beginning volunteering duties.

Description
The purpose of the SAHA's Volunteer Program is to improve the quality of living and promote health and well-being for Satellite Housing's residents. Volunteers will help foster community by facilitating activities for the residents, such as exercise groups, art classes, discussion groups, providing health and wellness information, leading or participating in games, assisting with special events, etc. The residents really appreciate the effort that is put forth by the volunteers, and look forward to the weekly interactions.
