Wintershelter provides dinners and shelter for about 20 homeless men in the basement of Trinity Memorial Church, 22 nd and Spruce Sts, every night during the six coldest months of the year, from November through April. The Shelter provides two kinds of volunteer activities, cooking and serving. Some volunteers only cook and some volunteers only serve. Some people like to cook meals and then come to the shelter and serve it, so they are cook/serve people. Some volunteers have once/month assignments and others work only once or twice a season. All volunteers are welcome. The shelter works in cooperation with the Bethesda Project which hires the overnight staff, screens and clothes the men, and brings them to Trinity Memorial Church where the shelter is situated, where they meet our cooking and serving volunteers.
