At the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, we always want our members to succeed in school by offering supplemental educational activities and programs throughout the year. Our literacy program involves one staff working on fundamental reading, writing, and spelling skills with 5-9 year olds. Volunteers are welcome to come in and work either in the group with the whole reading club, or 1-on-1 with struggling readers who need your help the most. This program has just begun for the 2015-16 school year and we are so excited to watch it grow! All volunteers will go through the volunteer orientation at BGC which is led by Nichelle Hull who can be reached at (775) 360-2449. Description
As a Volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club you are an important part of our organization. You will be acting as a mentor, helping our members, and serving as role model for youth in our community. Volunteers must attend an orientation before volunteering with us as well as have a background check completed. Volunteering opportunities include but are not limited to: tutoring and homework help, science and math classes, computers, arts and crafts, dance, music and choir, photography, drama, chess, legos, sewing, scrapbooking, basketball, soccer, coaching, and refereeing.
