To celebrate the 2016 NPS Centennial, NPS is launching a "Find Your Park" campaign in April of 2015. For the Moccasin Bend National Archeological District and the Chickamauga Chattanooga National Military Park, this campaign will focus on the various units within the national park, such as Moccasin Bend, Lookout Mountain, Chickamauga Battlefield, Signal Point, Orchard Knob, and Sherman Reservation. More specifically, this event will focus on the future development of Moccasin Bend, and how this special unit of the park fits into the whole. The goal is to reinforce the unity and connection between these geographically separated parts of the park with over 9,000 acres in 2 states.
National Park Service staff will unveil four proposed General Management Plan alternatives for Moccasin Bend to the public, and the public will give their opinions and input on the alternatives. This community visioning event will inform NPS planners and developers of public opinion, and will ultimately inform the future development of Moccasin Bend National Archeological District. This event also serves as a dedication of these new public lands at 10 Hamm Road.
