The Sunken Meadow Outdoor Learning Lab is in need of volunteers to support environmental education programs that take place throughout the year. Easily accessable within Sunken Meadow State Park, opportunities include, but are not limited to:
- Environmental Science - maintain and/or organize scientific supplies and equipment
- Animal Care/Handling - daily feedings, animal enrichment, salt and/or freshwater tank maintenance
- Gardening - maintenance of garden beds and/or trails, planting, pruning
- Facilities Management - groundskeeping, small repairs and/or projects (e.g., carpentry, painting, etc.)
- Housekeeping - organize and/or clean program materials and facilities following science-based programs

Mission Statement
Scope is the Suffolk County Organization for the Promotion of Education. It is a not-for-profit, private, voluntary organization permanently chartered by the New York State Board of Regents to provide service to school districts. Founded in 1964 by school superintendents, it is a cooperative venture for sharing resources to deal with common concerns. It is governed by a Board of Directors of school superintendents and college representatives and serves as a regional School Study Council and School Board Institute.
