ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Virginia Region

PLACEMENT PURPOSE
As part of the disaster workforce team, you will be instrumental in working on the activities that engage volunteers and employees in support of the Disaster Core Processes: Prepare, Respond and Recover. You will help develop the disaster workforce; ensuring that the disaster core processes are carried out by qualified disaster responders. During a response, Disaster Workforce Management Teams (DWMT) support responders by recruiting and assigning them to disaster relief operations (DROs). This includes a diverse workforce based on the scope and nature of the disaster and applies to deploying volunteers out of the area & working within a designated Territory or in a Regional role.

OPEN TIME DAYS
16 hours weekly - flexibility required.⦆ During operational response, should expect to work at least 3 consecutive 8-12 shifts.

REQUIRED TRAINING
    • Orientation to American Red Cross
    • Disaster Cycle Services: An Overview (accessible via EMBARC)
    • Job Induction to the DWMT
    • Designated Volunteer Connection Training (role specific)
    • Staff Planning & Support training is under development & will be required when released
    • Deployment Fundamentals (accessible via EMBARC)
