We need your help once a week in the morning to lunch time, on a day to be mutually decided with you and our chef (shifts are semi-flexible). You'll have the opportunity to help prepare and serve the lunch meal, which is served Mon-Fri at 11:45am-12:20pm.
You don't need previous cooking or kitchen experience as long as you come ready to learn and eager to help. We have behind-the-scenes cooking opportunities and front-line serving positions if you prefer more customer service oriented experiences. Opportunity for interaction between volunteers and seniors who come to eat lunch varies depending on what position you’re doing. Volunteer with a friend or come by yourself and meet new people!
The Community Dining program has two main goals: to provide healthy meals for seniors and to offer them a space to meet friends. As we age, there is an increased risk of becoming isolated and for decreasing nutritious intake. This program helps to minimize these risks to health and wellbeing.
