Join our team and help build and maintain school gardens in the Marysville, WA area. We are seeking Marysville residents (or nearby) who enjoy being outdoors in nature, growing food/or have an interest in learning how to, as well as working with and mentoring youth! However, we can teach the right person about growing food and would welcome volunteers with other skills to share!

Currently our work parties at both locations are Wednesdays from 2-4pm, but that might change depending on school faculty/staff schedules.

Volunteers will also be needed to work with school faculty and staff to help manage work parties and to promote the garden at school and community events to increase participation and connect low income families with the food resource that the garden provides. Volunteers are also needed to rally community donations to the garden - seeds, plants, supplies and general materials such as cardoard, snacks for garden events, etc.

Our school gardens are meant to teach kids, families and communities about growing and eating healthy, nutritious food while caring for the environment, serving others, and sharing in the harvest. If you agree that every kid should learn where their food comes from, please join us!

Mission Statement

Farmer Frog is Sprouting Simple Change. We grow kids, cultivate community and nurture habitat for all living things through real food.

Description

We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization serving thousands of people with free or low cost fresh food and hands on learning as we also protect the environment and wildlife 365 days a year. We help create, maintain and manage edible school gardens and small permaculture farms. We show educators how to use such spaces as outdoor classrooms to teach STEAM and we assist folks learning how to grow food in whatever space they have available in ecosystem friendly ways.

Our headquarters is in Snohomish. Our new BearGrass Farm will be opening soon to offer learning and gathering spaces, retreat and relaxing opportunities and is a demonstration site for several important programs including Bear With Me (our wildlife and predator friendly practices), Farmer Frog Studios (our art and film projects) and smart farming systems that include research and partnership with local higher education institutions. We host people from all walks of life, from schools through clubs and corporate teams, various cultural programs, immigrant communities, private gatherings, hands on classes, summer campers, NAMI programming, facilitator-led activities, juvenile releasees and community service oriented individuals.
