The Children's Book Project builds literacy by distributing free books to organizations that serve children who need them. We need reliable volunteers to count donated books and sort them by subject and reading level for 1 1/2 hours/shift at our new Book Bank in San Francisco. An interest in children's books is helpful. Visit childrensbookproject.org to sign up for a shift.

Mission Statement
Children's Book Project gives free books to children who need them for equity in literacy, learning, and life.
Description
Since 1992, Children's Book Project has given away over 3.16 million books to Title 1 schools, public health clinics, shelters, public housing, community organizations, and others serving hundreds of thousands of under-resourced children throughout 35 California counties. Educators, caseworkers, and community service providers visit our Book Bank in San Francisco year-round to select the free books they need for the children they serve.
Literacy attainment is directly tied to academic achievement and lifetime outcomes, yet children in economically disadvantaged communities do not have the same access to books as their more affluent peers. Children’s Book Project is committed to closing the opportunity gap and lifting up our community by raising readers.
