PLACEMENT PURPOSE
This is a national program being offered throughout 2014 in the Eastern Virginia Region. Using carefully assessed curriculum tools, this one-hour program provides emergency-preparedness education to youth in grades 3-5 in school and after-school settings.
OPEN TIME DAYS
- Initial Presenter and Project training (46 hours)
- 2 hour commitment per presentation (1 hour set up/clean up, 1 hour presentation), not including picking up and dropping off materials from the chapter, commuting to and from presentation site, or any additional tasks done at the chapter.
- Orientation to American Red Cross
- Disaster Services: An Overview
- Community Disaster Education presenter training
- Pillowcase Project presenter training (including teachbacks)
- Shadowing presentations
- Recommended: Psychological First Aid
