WHAT IS AMERICAN HEART HEROES?

American Heart Heroes is a year-round program for kids living with congenital heart defects. Heart heroes spend so much time at doctor visits, surgeries, and missing school...this fun program offers exciting opportunities for them to get together with others like them and just be kids.

FAMILY CONFERENCE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

This awesome event is designed to bring these heroes and their CHD families together with others like their own family, to spend the day filled with fun activities at Tampa’s very cool Museum of Science & Industry. Parents will be hearing from speakers about the latest medical, educational and social information on raising a child with heart defects and will therefore be away from their kids during most of the event.

WHAT CAN VOLUNTEERS EXPECT?

Event volunteers are needed to serve as fun counselors with groups of kids. Duties include leading the group with other volunteers and participating with the kids in the amazing planned MOSI activities.

Upon arrival, event volunteers will enjoy breakfast, run through a quick orientation and review the groups’ schedule. Families will arrive shortly thereafter. After opening ceremonies, all kids will be divided into assigned age groups for their day of scheduled activities with counselors. Volunteers will enjoy lunch together while kids are with their families. For the afternoon, kids will be back into groups for more activities until conference close.

Event Volunteer Shift: 7:45 a.m. -- 2:00 p.m.

Casual Attire: Jeans, shorts, sneakers, red shirt if possible.
