Mesquite Social Services' success depends greatly on our volunteers and their willingness to jump right in and get even the "non-glamorous" tasks done.

The Food Pantry Assistant is the behind the scenes face of the agency. The Food Pantry Assistant is responsible for:

  1. Offering assistance to load food to clients' cars with a positive attitude
  2. Accepting donations of in-kind items
  3. Providing donors with receipt of donations
  4. Maintaining inventory of food items as determined by staff
  5. Stocking, sorting, organizing and maintaining food pantry shelves
  6. Loading and unloading of agency food donations
  7. Assisting in gathering items for the Senior Portable Pantry program
  8. Other tasks as assigned by agency staff

Please note, this is a hard job, but it is the most important part of how our agency operates the food pantry. There is heavy lifting required. Minimum of 50+ pounds lifted at a time. Without these individuals to work behind the scenes, there would be no food in the pantry to help our clients.

Our food pantry is open on Tuesdays and Fridays 9am - 12pm or until we reach the first 25 clients (due to inventory and staff limitations).
