The volunteers for this opportunity will be working at:

Rock Island Center for Math and Science
2101 18th Ave, Rock Island, IL 61201
Thursdays from 3:00-5:00

Our volunteers will be working in small group settings (1-3 students) helping with reading, writing, and homework assistance. Building bonds with the children is important, so volunteers will be paired with the same group whenever possible. Each volunteer will work with two groups of children a day. One group from Group A and one group from Group B.

A typical day consists of:
3:00-3:15 -- Snack time
3:15-4:00 -- Volunteers with Group A students / Teachers with Group B students
4:00-4:45 -- Volunteers with Group B students / Teachers with Group A students
4:45-5:15 -- Dinner and Dismissal

Mission Statement

The mission of Spring Forward Learning Center is to provide free supplemental education and enrichment opportunities for youth in Rock Island and Milan, Illinois.

Description

Spring Forward Learning Center (SFLC), was originally created as a mission project for Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Rock Island and now operates as a not-for-profit organization that provides a safe, supportive learning environment for up to 300 children from the Rock Island-Milan School District. SFLC provides free after-school educational and enrichment programs in six local elementary schools: Frances Willard Elementary Rock Island Academy Longfellow Liberal Arts Rock Island Center for Math and Science Ridgewood Elementary Thomas Jefferson Elementary
