What is Hospice? Hospice care concentrates on symptoms, pain, and stress that come from a serious illness. However, hospice care is specifically for patients who are in the terminal phase of their life. Hospice care has a team approach that considers both the patients’ and family’s holistic needs. Volunteer Program Our volunteers are special and necessary members of our Hospice team. Volunteers can have such a positive impact on a patient and their family. Our volunteers work closely with our staff and patients to maintain and maximize the quality of life for the ones we serve. Previous medical experience is not required and training is available for all volunteer positions. Volunteers set their own levels of commitment based on their availability and the needs of our patients. Below are the two categories of our volunteers and some of their typical tasks. Patient-Oriented Volunteers Many people underestimate the impact of just sitting and talking with someone, sharing stories, and enjoying the day. Office Volunteers An office volunteer can provide a great support to our office staff. Paradigm trains volunteers! Description
Paradigm Health offers a unique combination of premier hospice and palliative care to Central Indiana. By providing above and beyond quality home-based care, Paradigm Health has assembled a leadership team and valued, competent and well-educated staff working within an organized and responsive management model to place us on the path to becoming Central Indiana's both provider and employer of choice.
Consumers of our services will be those individuals and families in need of home health, hospice and/or palliative care. These patients are usually referred by other health care professionals such as physicians, attorneys, insurance companies and health care facilities.
In addition to hands-on leadership and a committed and compassionate caregiving staff, Paradigm Health hospice volunteers are an essential part of our patient-care team. They are specially trained individuals, who provide assistance to patients, their families and the hospice team. They do not provide direct patient care, give medications or make medical decisions. As a valued resource, they bring a friendly smile, warm conversation, a hand to hold, or offer a welcome respite for a family.
