The Highland Park Public Library is looking for a volunteer who would be wiling to care for our gerbils, Yankee Doodle and Dandy, and future gerbils when the time comes for Yankee Doodle and Dandy to retire from the library.
Volunteers will be asked to:
- Ensure that the gerbils have fresh food and water
- Clean the gerbils aquarium (weekly)
- Change gerbils bedding (every other week)
- Ensure gerbils have appropriate items to play with and stimulate their curiosity
- Ensure that gerbils have appropriate items to gnaw on
- Ensure that there is an adequte supply of materials for the care of the gerbils including, but not limited to:
- Food Supply
- Bedding
- Water
- Inform a staff member if supplies are low.

Volunteers will be need from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. daily (except for Sundays, times are flexible).
