Communications Internship w/ Community Clinic

Venice Family Clinic (VFC) is a nonprofit that provides quality health care to people in need. To help support our mission, we are looking for 1-3 dedicated interns who will work under Venice Family Clinic’s Communications Manager. Interns must be available during normal business hours (9:00 am-6:00 pm, M-F), but days/times are flexible. Although this position is unpaid, interns can receive academic credit depending on their university policies, gain invaluable insight into nonprofit communications, and potentially receive a letter of recommendation based on their job performance.

Position Description:

Each Communications Intern will work under the Communications Manager and have a special focus that utilizes their unique skillset. Projects may include (but are not limited to): PR and media outreach, communications research, press kit creation, social media strategizing, graphic design support, copywriting and editing, interviewing, website management, filing and archiving, administrative duties.

General Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in an institution seeking a degree, certification, or diploma and would like to receive academic credit. However, this is not required.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong writing, editing, and verbal skills
• Attention to detail with an eye for accuracy
• Ability to take direction while juggling multiple tasks
• Ability to work independently and as a team
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Experience, classes, or majors related to communications, marketing, public relations/media, administrative support, library science, and/or nonprofits are preferred, but not required
• Experience with graphic design is a plus, but not required
• Experience with website management and/or coding is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to work a minimum of 4 hours per week (flexible depending on availability)
