Our Volunteers find their Volunteer experience incredibly rewarding as they provide support to those who are going through the end of life process. You too can be one of these Volunteers who makes a difference. You can also establish meaningful relationships with patients, their families, and our hospice team. Many of our Volunteers will tell you that their life has been enriched by Volunteering and making a difference!
Volunteer Activities- Listening as a patient shares memories
- Filling in to give a family caregiver a short, needed break
- Making supportive calls and visits to bereaved family members
- Telephoning patients and families to offer reassurance and comfort
- Providing administrative support to the Hospice Advantage office
- Running errands, performing light housekeeping chores
- Visiting lonely hospice patients in nursing homes
- Reading, playing games, listening to music with a patient
Specialty volunteers provide massage, play music and bring their pets to visit. Student volunteers find many opportunities to gain valuable experience while meeting their school’s requirements.
All Hospice Advantage volunteers receive comprehensive training that includes hospice philosophy, caring for the terminally ill and grief and loss education. We then match your talents and interests with available volunteer roles.

Description
Most volunteers feel personally rewarded through offering their time, energy and compassion when they see how much they are able to help patients and families. Further benefits frequently experienced by our volunteers include:
- Greater self-knowledge from insights gained from relationships with patients, their families and from the hospice volunteer training.
- Spiritual growth from supporting a person through the final days while increasing the awareness of their own sense of spiritual values.
The people that make up Compassus are dedicated to compassionate care, clinical excellence and providing comfort and support to patients and their families with end-of-life issues. This includes our volunteers.
At Compassus, we believe that every life is unique and deserves a meaningful and personal final journey. Perhaps you’ve experienced hospice services with a member of your family, or are looking for a meaningful way to volunteer your time. If you believe that giving your time can enhance the lives of others, we encourage you to explore volunteer opportunities with Compassus.
