Are you associated with a homeowners association, church group, or community association? RSVP is recruiting volunteers to be lay health educators through FMH’s "Bridges" program. The lay educators will be trained to present information on chronic disease management to group members and act as a mentor to those individuals. Mission Statement

RSVP provides adults 55+ with volunteer opportunities to pursue their interests and use their abilities to meet the needs of residents in Frederick County, Md. RSVP of Frederick County supports volunteer stations by recruiting and matching older volunteers to meet the particular needs of each agency. The skills, interests, and life experiences of volunteers are matched with opportunities offered within the nonprofit community and various government agencies. Volunteers are able to select their assignments and determine their hours of service.

Description

People 55+ can volunteer their time and expertise and make a positive impact in our community. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is America’s largest volunteer network for people age 55+. In Frederick County, RSVP volunteers are making an impact by growing the capacity of public and nonprofit agencies in such areas as: building literacy, distributing food to families in need; delivering meals to homebound individuals; providing transportation to veterans and the homebound; providing health education and outreach programs; providing interpretation services and citizenship classes or tutoring; helping individuals find appropriate housing by filing for tax credits and locating resources for home repairs; assisting agencies with volunteer program development; collaborating with the Commission on Aging to help communities develop "Villages" and the support networks to make them successful.
