ORGANIZATION: Rape Victim Advocacy Program

Prevention volunteers have the opportunity to assist our prevention team in their efforts to education the community about sexual assault, consent, bystander intervention, and healthy relationships.

  • Build personal and professional skills including public speaking, curriculum development, and event planning
  • Assist in staffing information booths to raise awareness about RVAP services
  • Develop and deliver presentations on sexual violence awareness and prevention for a variety of constituents in our 8 county service area
  • Co-facilitate youth education & prevention curriculum to middle and high school aged students
  • Assist in the creation of a longitudinal peer facilitation program for secondary schools
  • Aid in the development and execution of Sexual Assault Awareness Month activities and events in April

Description

RVAP is a sexual assault victim advocate and prevention education agency. We serve anyone impacted by sexual violence -- survivors and/or their loved ones in the following eastern Iowa counties: Cedar, Des Moines, Henry, Iowa, Johnson, Lee, Washington,Van Buren. This includes but is not limited to individuals of any age, gender, identity, culture, etc.
